Script Abuse

Scripts are happy little bits of code that automate some chore or behavior that we want to repeat. Many of our regular chatters use them to take care of channel business and amuse others.

If you don't have one or know how to make them, that's fine. They aren't required and you can do well without them.

If you have one or understand how to use others, please don't abuse them.

What constitutes abuse:

• Knowingly or carelessly running any program that may damage or place excessive load on a server or the network. This includes but is not limited to mass-invites, mass-messages and programs known as war scripts, clone-bots or flood-bot. Using these will lead to being banned without prior warning. (see rules)
• Scripts that violate any other network rules. (see rules)
• When the script is used to harass, bully, batter, or imply excessive violence on your fellow chatters.
• When use of the script noticably interrupts the flow of conversation, and/or constitutes flooding.
• When your script otherwise does for you anything that is discouraged in the Things Not To Do Chat Guides

Example (note that "slaps x around a bit with a large trout" is coming from a user's script, invoked by a brief command such as "/slap x"):

      * Three whacks the rest of the sleepy chat with a wet slippery trout
      * Two slaps Three around a bit with a large trout
      * One backs away slowly
<One>   I don't wanna be hit with a trout!
